GitHub

Also known as: GitHub.com / GitHub Actions / GitHub Enterprise

Microsoft's Git hosting with Pull Requests, Issues, and Actions. World's largest OSS ecosystem with integrated Copilot AI coding assistance.

Overview

GitHub is the de facto platform for software development, unifying code review, CI/CD, and project management. GitHub Actions lets you trigger automated testing, builds, and deployments on every push.

Integration with AI coding

The OpenAI Codex workflow popularizes an automated loop of 'Linear ticket → Codex agent → GitHub PR'. See the OpenAI Symphony overview for details.

OpenAI Symphony 2026 — The Open-Source Spec That Turns Linear Tickets Into Codex Agent Workspaces and Pull Requests
OpenAI's Symphony, released in 2026 as an open-source spec, defines a "ticket-driven AI development" pattern: each Linear issue gets its own Codex agent in its own workspace and runs until the issue reaches a terminal state. This article walks through the spec's core ideas, the Elixir reference implementation, the polling / supervisor / workspace-isolation architecture, and the realistic operational considerations for adopting it — based on publicly available information.

[DeepWiki (deepwiki.com)](https://deepwiki.com/) Deep Dive — Cognition Labs' (the Devin Team) AI Documentation Tool That Turns Any GitHub Repo Into an Interactive Wiki Just by Replacing github.com With deepwiki.com in the URL, With 50,000+ Top OSS Repos Pre-Indexed, Architecture Diagrams + File-Linked Summaries + Natural-Language Chat for the Fastest Onboarding Path Official MCP Server for Cursor / Claude Code / Claude Desktop, Private-Repo Support via Devin Integration
**[DeepWiki (deepwiki.com)](https://deepwiki.com/) is an AI documentation tool from [Cognition Labs](https://www.cognition-labs.com/) — the [Devin](../columns/claude-fable-5-return-devin-cursor-2026-07) team**. **Replace `github.com` with `deepwiki.com` in any public GitHub URL** and the repo becomes an interactive wiki. **Core experience**: (1) **architecture diagrams** visualizing component dependencies, (2) **file-linked summaries** describing each module / function with direct links to the source, (3) **natural-language chat** grounded in the code ("who calls this function?", "why is it designed this way?"). **50,000+ top OSS repos are pre-indexed** (MCP, LangChain, Next.js, React, [Transformers](https://huggingface.co/docs/transformers), [VSCode](https://code.visualstudio.com/), [Playwright](https://playwright.dev/), etc.). **Private-repo support**: connect your GitHub to Devin and internal repos can also be analyzed by DeepWiki, with Devin's agent using the generated wiki when planning and executing tasks. **MCP server** — an **official one for [Cursor](../columns/cursor-ios-supports-2026-07-01) / [Claude Code](https://claude.com/product/claude-code) / Claude Desktop** so coding agents can consult DeepWiki mid-task. **Tech**: Cognition Labs' Devin AI plus the Claude Agent SDK (Claude 3.7-class LLMs); **free**. **Position**: alongside [Herdr (parallel execution)](../columns/herdr-terminal-agent-multiplexer-2026-07), [Mosaic (SHARED CONTROL)](../columns/mosaic-parallel-claude-code-2026-07), [Command Code (taste-1)](../columns/commandcode-taste-1-personalized-coding-agent-2026-07), [grill-me](../columns/grill-me-agent-skill-2026-07), and [Cerebras Gemma 4](../columns/cerebras-gemma-4-31b-multimodal-inference-2026-07), it occupies the **"understanding layer"** of the **"understand × parallel × personalized × thoroughly reviewed × fast inference" late-2026 AI dev stack**, cutting new-contributor onboarding from **days to hours**. **Caveats**: LLM hallucination remains (verify load-bearing claims by clicking through citations), Cognition Labs / Devin ecosystem dependency, and data-sovereignty considerations for private-repo use.

[Update 2026-06-16: Paused] Anthropic Pauses the June 15 Claude Agent SDK Credit Pool Split — Official Help Center Notice Reverts Behavior to Subscription Usage Limits, Previously Announced $20 / $100 / $200 Monthly Credits No Longer Available
**June 16, 2026 Update**: On the very day of enforcement (June 15, 2026), Anthropic **paused the planned split of Claude Agent SDK, `claude -p`, GitHub Actions, and third-party app (OpenClaw, Zed, Conductor, etc.) usage from subscription rate limits**. The [official Help Center article](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/15036540-use-the-claude-agent-sdk-with-your-claude-plan) was amended with: "Update June 15: We are pausing the changes to Claude Agent SDK usage described below. For now, nothing has changed: Claude Agent SDK, `claude -p`, and third-party app usage still draw from your subscription is usage limits. The previously announced monthly credit, which would have been available to eligible claimants in connection with these changes, isn it available. We are working to update the plan to better support how users build with Claude subscriptions. When we have an update, we will share it before anything takes effect." **The previously announced monthly credits (Pro $20 / Max 5x $100 / Max 20x $200 / Team $20-100 / Enterprise $200) were not distributed**. Programmatic usage now once again draws from standard subscription limits. The change is officially a **pause, not a full rollback** — Anthropic says it is reworking the plan and will share details before anything new ships. The backlash that triggered this was substantial: [community estimates](https://gist.github.com/MagnaCapax/d9177e35b355853f03c730dfcaa693ef) projected effective price hikes of 12-175x against API-rate equivalents, Anthropic engineer Lydia Hallie was quickly Community-Noted on X, and Reddit r/ClaudeAI, HN, and [The New Stack](https://thenewstack.io/anthropic-agent-sdk-credits/) all carried critical coverage. This is Anthropic is **third subscription-policy reversal of 2026** (January OAuth block reversed within days, April 4 third-party agent ban reversed within 24 hours, and now the May 14 compromise credit pool paused on its June 15 enforcement day). This column preserves the original announced design while adding a detailed reversal section: timeline, operational implications, and the current validity of the "turn Extra Usage auto-billing off" guidance.
