OpenTelemetry
Also known as: OpenTelemetry / OTel / オープンテレメトリー
A CNCF Observability framework that standardizes collection and export of metrics, logs, and traces with vendor-neutral APIs, SDKs, and a collector spec. It outputs to backends like Datadog, Jaeger, and Grafana Tempo.
Overview
OpenTelemetry enables vendor-independent application instrumentation, so switching monitoring tools does not require rewriting instrumentation code. SDKs are available for Node.js, Python, Java, Go, and other major languages.
LLM Tracing
LangChain and Anthropic traces can be exported in OpenTelemetry format, enabling unified management of LLM application cost, latency, and errors. Pairing with Grafana or Datadog backends is common.
