Sitemap
Also known as: XML Sitemap / サイトマップ / sitemap.xml
An XML file that lists all URLs on a site to guide search engine crawlers. It can specify priority, change frequency, and last-modified date, accelerating indexing of new content.
Overview
The standard setup places sitemap.xml at the site root and references it from robots.txt. Large sites split into sub-sitemaps organized by a sitemap index file. Next.js supports dynamic generation via app/sitemap.ts.
Accelerating Crawling of New Content
After publishing new content, request indexing via Search Console's URL Inspection tool or update the sitemap's lastmod value. For ISR pages, refreshing lastmod on each regeneration helps signal fresh content to crawlers.
